February 2019 at Smartly

In addition to the event in March, turns out that we’ll also have a meet-up a month earlier courtesy of Smartly.io.

Introducing our speakers

Development Environment for Microservices — Ville Lautanala

Microservices architectures offer benefits when working with multiple teams, but they get less fun when you have enough services to use up all the RAM on your laptop.

We’ll talk about our journey at Smartly.io from Vagrant to Kubernetes and how we built Ruby-based tooling to allow anyone to setup their own Smartly with a single command.

Ville Lautanala is a developer turned manager at Smartly.io. He has a history of using Ruby successfully also where it perhaps shouldn’t have been used.

Developing APIs with Grape — Matias Korhonen

A quick dive into developing REST-like APIs using the Grape framework. Why you would want to use Grape instead of plain Rails and what you gain and what you lose by using Grape.

Matias Korhonen is a developer at Kisko Labs. He’s been writing Ruby and Rails apps for almost a decade now.
